Located along the northern edge of Colorado’s El Paso county, between Denver and Colorado Springs, King’s Deer, at 7400 feet, is perched atop the Palmer Divide–one of the highest points on the Great Plains. Residents enjoy spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains emerging from the Plains seven miles to the west. And to the southwest, Pikes Peak dominates the horizon.

From I-25 take exit 153, go east on Interquest Pkwy/CO-83 N; turn left onto Roller Coaster Road then right on Royal Troon Drive.

Shopping and Services

The local town of Monument, about seven miles to the west and straddling interstate 25, serves as a very convenient base for local shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities.

Within 10 minutes is The Shops at Briargate, a lifestyle center, located at Highway 83 and Briargate Parkway. The shopping area features 50 specialty shops and restaurants. There are Home Depot, Lowe’s, Wal-Mart and Target stores all within 10-15 minutes also. Both King Soopers and Safeway have grocery stores within 10 minutes.

About the Schools

Located within King’s Deer, Prairie Winds Elementary School is the newest elementary school in Lewis-Palmer School District 38. It is designed to accommodate 450 students through the fifth grade. Other children could attend Creekside Middle School and Lewis Palmer High School, all minutes away.

Parks and Recreation

There are many sports and recreation amenities in King’s Deer. A large maintained regulation soccer field provides a great place for local teams to practice and compete. Paved parking is available off the west end of Sixpenny Lane. The King’s Deer Golf Course is a public course that opened in 1999. A large, centrally located playground, offers hours of fun for King’s Deer families. A great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. The playground is accessed from the west end of Sixpenny Lane, off Royal Troon Drive.

Over seven miles of maintained trails throughout King’s Deer offer residents and guests enjoyable recreational hiking and biking paths with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak. Our trails offer a safe and enjoyable route for kids to get to the Prairie Winds Elementary School. The quiet roads through and around King’s Deer offer a perfect cycling environment. The rolling hills and high elevation provide moderate exercise without being excessively strenuous.
